Graham Wells piano tuning & repairs offers a first class piano tuning & repairing service covering Birmingham & the surrounding areas.
I qualified from Newark Technical College in 1986, then went on to work for Ladbrook Pianos before establishing my own business in 1988.
I rented workshop space in the Telsen Industrial Centre in Aston for many years. From here I carried out piano repairs & restoration work, as well as building up a busy piano tuning business. I also bought & sold second hand & new pianos during this time.
I have a wealth of experience I provide friendly, honest advice.
Whenever possible I like to ensure that pianos are tuned to concert pitch & offer a reminder service for when the next tuning is due. If repairs to the piano are necessary, I offer, sensible & cost effective solutions appropriate to the instrument.
Whether the piano is a concert grand or an old upright I always strive to achieve the best results.
I tune & service pianos at all types of venues from private homes to schools, churches, theatres & concert halls.
Booking & the process.
I can be contacted by phone, text or email. If it is really urgent e.g. you have a concert tonight & forgot to get the piano tuned, then please phone or text my mobile.
I prefer to make bookings on week days during the day but can do evenings or Saturday mornings if necessary. It is always helpful if you could suggest some days that are generally good for you in your message.
I work mostly in and around the Birmingham area, including areas around Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Solihull & Stourbridge. I also frequently visit Coventry and for a slightly higher fee will travel as far as Leamington, Warwick, Stratford, Droitwich & Kidderminster.
How much does piano tuning cost ?
My basic charge for a local tuning is currently £85.00.
For just a straight forward tuning my basic fee applies. I may charge more if additional repairs are necessary or if the pitch needs to be raised. Raising the pitch involves going through the tuning more than once (in the same visit) & I charge an extra £30 for each additional time through e.g. Raise up to a semitone – extra £30, or up to a tone (usually the maximum) – extra £60.
How long does it take to tune a piano ?
Please allow up to a couple of hours or so for my visit.
In preparation for my visit removing anything from the top of the piano would be really helpful, but don’t worry if you forget, I’ll be happy to give you a hand.
If there are any mechanical problems with your piano e.g. notes sticking or not working properly, please make a note of which ones are affected so I can put it right for you.
Please call Graham on 07966367259 to book an appointment.
